Stoke City FC are considering signing Chicago Fire forward David Accam following a successful trial with the English Premier League side, according to the Mail on Sunday.
While Accam would relish the idea of playing in the Premier League, he would prefer a loan and not a permanent move just yet, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
The source said Accam would prefer a loan – preferably in the Premier League – and then to return to the Fire for the 2016 Major League Soccer season. Accam has already approached Chicago about being available to be loaned to clubs in Ligue 1 for the winter, but the request was denied.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian, who can play forward or wing, led the Fire with 10 goals and was named team MVP in his debut season in MLS. The Designated Player, who signed on Dec. 19, 2014 from Helsingborgs IF in Sweden, also added two assists in 24 MLS appearances (21 starts).
